Veterans Memorial Bridge was dedicated in honor of the sons and daughters of Lancaster and York Counties, Pennsylvania, who served in the wars of their country. Also known as the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge, it was built by the Lancaster-York Intercounty Bridge Commission with Lancaster County commission members G. Graybill Diehm, president, Charles A. Passmore, James F. Simpson, Oliver S. Schaeffer, counsel, and Ralph W. Eby, controller; York County commission members J. Emanuel Smith, secretary, W. Everett Wiley, John J. Landes, George S. Love, counsel, and William H. Menges, controller; James B. Long as consulting engineer; and Wiley-Maxon Construction Co. as contractor in 1930.
