Woolly Hollow State Park near Greenbrier, Arkansas, developed around Bennett Lake, a dammed lake created beginning in 1933 through New Deal-era work by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration. The area had earlier been the Woolly family homestead and was once known as Centerville County Park, with a restored cabin preserving that earlier history. In the 1930s, Dr. Hugh Bennett used the lake and watershed for soil studies. The park’s historic Huckleberry Trail, completed by the CCC in 1935 and restored in 1981, remains a central feature alongside mountain biking routes and camping facilities.
