Bridal Veil Falls, outside Heber Springs in Cleburne County, Arkansas, consists of two closely situated waterfalls whose shared setting shaped both their names and history. The property was first owned by John H. Cornelius, who acquired the land in 1894 under the U.S. Homestead Act of 1862, and his family held it until about 1903. One cascade later became known as Bridal Veil Falls, while the other still sometimes retains the Cornelius name. Though privately owned for many years, the area remained informally open to the public. Since the 1980s, local organizations and the city have worked together to secure access and add basic visitor improvements.
