Albert Roche, son of Walter P. Roche, was a stockbroker in Chicago. He married Alice Kile, a pioneer settler and daughter of Village Board President Merrill Kile, in 1878. Their house is a well-maintained expression of 19th century architecture, uniting simple features into a pleasing, harmonious whole. Groups of windows at the front provide a well-lighted and ventilated parlor for the family, while a planar hood molding protects the windows and adds architectural interest. The second-floor windows have a unique octagon arch, and the entryway reflects the period with long divided sidelights, a glazed and paneled door, and a transom window.
