A Texas pink granite rock was one of many that fell from H&TC Railroad flat cars while being transported from Granite Mountain in Burnet County through Burton for use in building the Galveston Sea Wall, which began in 1902 and was finished in 1904. The same stone was used in the construction of the State Capitol of Texas. This rock remained on the railroad right of way near Burton for many years and was moved to this site on May 27, 1987.
