Norristown Farm Park is a 690-acre Pennsylvania state park near Norristown that combines public recreation with an active farm landscape. Occupying land once part of Williamstadt, a 7,000-acre tract associated with William Penn and later passed through William Penn Jr. to Isaac Norris, for whom Norristown is named, the park preserves a long rural history. After Norris's heirs sold portions to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the surrounding state-owned property became the site of Norristown State Hospital in the 1870s. Today, a working farm, colonial-era buildings, and Stony Creek link that past to a landscape used for outdoor activities and community gatherings.
