The first house in Riley County was built here in June 1854. The place was named for Gen. E.A. Ogden, who supervised the building of Fort Riley. Pioneer settlers included the Dixon Brothers, Jacob Thierer, S.B. White, D.L. Chandler, and Thomas Reynolds.
