Willeo Baptist Church was named after a well known local Native American, Willeo, who lived along present-day Willeo Creek in the early 1800s and, according to legend, may have been an original church member. Since 1835, it has played an important role in the Christian life of the Roswell community. In 1872, members from Willeo and Lebanon Baptist met at the historic Roswell square and organized Roswell Baptist Church, which later became Roswell First Baptist Church and Roswell Second Baptist Church, now known as Atlanta Street Baptist. Willeo Baptist Church has continued building relationships for Christ in the Roswell community and anticipates pursuing this mission into the future.
