Winter Harbor Light stands on Mark Island at the entrance to Winter Harbor on Maine’s Schoodic Peninsula. Built in 1856 to guide the local fishing fleet, it features a round brick tower with its original octagonal lantern house and originally used a fifth-order Fresnel lens. The station expanded over time with a new keeper’s house in 1876, a boathouse in 1878, and an oilhouse in 1905. Its closely arranged buildings preserve the practical layout of a small offshore light station. Deactivated in the 1930s and later privately owned, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
