In 1955, Mamie Till-Mobley sparked the Civil Rights Movement by speaking on behalf of justice, reconciliation, and human rights after the lynching death of her son, Emmett Till. Sixty-seven years later, on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, the Emmett Till Anti-lynching Act was passed. Mamie Till-Mobley said, "We are only given a certain amount of time to do what we were sent here to do. You don't have to be around a long time to share the wisdom of a lifetime. There is no time to waste." She also said, "Let the people see what I have seen."
