Post No. 524 of the American Legion in Forest City, Pennsylvania, dedicated this memorial in memory of comrades from Forest City and vicinity who gave their lives in defense of humanity in the First World War, listing those from Forest City, Vandling, and Elkdale who made the supreme sacrifice; it also includes a World War Two Roll of Honor, presented to the Gold Star Mothers of Forest City and its greater area, and names those from the area who died in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, ending with Abraham Lincoln’s words, “That from these honored dead we take increased devotion...”
