Built circa 1840 by James M. Runyan (1807-1859), one of Burlington's mid-nineteenth century blacksmiths, this brick residence has served many uses, including as a parsonage. The structure features a side passage plan with understated Greek Revival detailing, including a decorative glass transom above the front door, flat sandstone window sills and lintels, and a side-gabled roof. At one time, a large stable stood behind the house and church.
