William Moak, Sr., a local dairy farmer and horse breeder, built this impressive brick and frame house in 1883, and by 1894 it was regarded as one of the finest residences in the region. His son, William B. Moak, was an attorney who helped the Village of Tinley Park incorporate and develop its initial ordinances in 1892. His daughter, Minnie Meak, wife of Dr. Charles W. Bishop, an early physician, community leader, and second Mayor of the Village of Tinley Park, served as Postmaster of the Tinley Park Post Office from 1897 to 1906. In more recent years the house was owned by the late Paul Caliban and his family, and it was included in the 1972 Illinois Historic Structures Survey for places of architectural interest and importance in Illinois communities over 500 in population conducted by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
