The Old Reamstown School Building at 23 East Church Street in Reamstown, Pennsylvania, stands on property whose deed was procured by John Ferstenower on October 12, 1764. On March 6, 1865, John Frecht and his wife Mary sold the lot to Jacob Getz. On March 6, 1872, Jacob Getz and his wife Mary sold the front portion of the lot nearer the street to the School Board of East Cocalico Township, and on November 26, 1877, Jacob and Mary Getz sold the back portion of the lot to the school board. The Church Street building housed grades 1 through 7 from the fall of 1872 until the spring of 1955, when the school district was changed. The building was then sold at public sale in 1955, but eight benevolent citizens contributed four thousand dollars of their own funds to save it for the community, with each man giving five hundred dollars. Those thanked were Oran Boose, Victor Bucher, Ray Lied, Newton Overholser, Arthur Reddig, Marvin Sweigart, and Carl Wingenroth, with special thanks also given to Floyd Bucher, a longtime Lancaster County agent, for extra donated funds that helped complete the purchase and create a trust fund for Reamstown Memorial Park.
