The Ripon Memorial Library was first built in 1948 at 430 West Main Street and was named in honor of the thirteen Ripon soldiers who gave their lives fighting for freedom in World War II. It was later relocated to a new building through a joint effort by the City of Ripon, which purchased the building, McRoy-Wilbur Communities and Braddock & Logan Group, which managed and donated renovation funds, and the Friends of the Ripon Library, which raised money for furnishings. The project also had support from past and present City Councils, consulting assistance from the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, and generous contributions of time, talent, and money from the citizens of Ripon, making a state-of-the-art library for the community a reality.
