H.H. Fledderjohann Sr., his wife, and their three sons immigrated to America from Ladbergen, Germany, in 1835. During the cholera epidemic of 1849, nine members of the family died in twelve days. H.H. Jr., the only surviving son, buried his family members in the German Reformed Cemetery. Those remembered are Herman Heinrich Fledderjohann Sr.; Anna Christine Elisabeth Holtkamp, wife of H.H. Sr.; Johann Heinrich Adolph, son of H.H. Sr.; Herman Wilhelm, son of H.H. Sr.; Christine Elizabeth Honoroth, wife of H. Wilhelm; William August, son of H. Wilhelm; Christine Elizabeth Lizetta Rump, wife of H.H. Jr.; Herman Heinrich, son of H.H. Jr.; and Christina Fredericka Nou, daughter of H.H. Jr.
