Canal boats operated at the basin south of Boswell Run, and scenes of them survive in a mural in the Waverly Post Office, where the bridge stood at the site of present Market Street, the canal became U.S. Rt. 23, and the building with the outside stairs remained standing. Another scene shows Ohio and Erie Canal Captain John Haynes and his boat Friendly near Yellowbud.
