Tikaboo Peak
Lore
Tikaboo Peak is an unofficially named mountain in Lincoln County, Nevada, about 26 miles east of Area 51. For years it was known as the closest publicly accessible place from which the secretive military site could be seen, giving it a distinctive role in the folklore of the Nevada Test and Training Range. Its importance as a lookout increased after the government closed the nearer viewpoints of Freedom Ridge and White Sides to public access in 1995 because people used them to photograph and film the base. Tikaboo Peak then remained the main legal viewing point until a temporary closure began in March 2026.
