The five lots between Simoni's building and this corner were first recorded under various members of the Granito family, and by 1923 they had all passed into the hands of Rafael's son, Joseph M. Granito. Over time the lots had housed offices, a second-hand store, a dry goods store, a blacksmith, a grocery, and a saloon, but Joe M. combined them into a general merchandising complex. In the early 1920s he leased the buildings on the neighboring lot to the Sahd Brothers for a general store, and in 1931 he added an auto service station on this corner. Joe also served for many years as Cerrillos postmaster and as Master of the local Masonic lodge. The private residence on the site was built in 1975 where Joe's garage had stood.
