Ivory Joe Hunter, known as "The Baron of Boogie," was a legendary pianist and prolific singer-songwriter born in Kirbyville, Texas, in 1911. He made Monroe, Louisiana, his family's home for three decades while writing some of his best-known tunes, touring the country, and appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show and the Grand Ole Opry. Among the thousands of songs he wrote and recorded, "Since I Met You Baby," "Blues at Sunrise," and "I Almost Lost My Mind" topped the charts and became blues standards before his death in 1974.
