The pioneers passed this spot on July 19, 1847 under the leadership of Brigham Young. The place marked the intersection of the Old Pioneer Trail of 1847 and the Lincoln Highway. In memory of the Mormon pioneers, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Summit Stake erected a monument here on July 13, 1927.
