Grand Army of the Republic Post 139 existed from 1878 to 1900, and on May 30, 1916, a flag pole was presented by Chas. B. Scott of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The memorial also includes "The Bivouac of the Dead," a verse honoring soldiers whose service has ended, portraying their final rest as silent tents on fame's eternal camping ground guarded by glory.
