Lake Darling State Park in southeast Iowa covers 1,417 acres around 302-acre Lake Darling, a reservoir on Honey Creek, a minor tributary of the Skunk River. Dedicated on September 17, 1950, and named for Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, the park has about 18 miles of shoreline marked by coves and inlets. Its sizable lake and broad protected land support day use and overnight stays with campsites, cabins, trails, a beach, boat rentals, and other amenities. Fishing and boating are central to its use, and it remains an important outdoor recreation area for the region.
