Brownstone Canyon Archaeological District is a protected archaeological area in southern Nevada within the La Madre Mountain Wilderness Area. Covering 2,920 acres inside a 47,180-acre wilderness landscape, it is administered by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management. The district is especially important for its many petroglyphs, which give it significance as an archaeological district beyond its natural setting as a canyon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 22, 1982. Today, it is recognized as a historic site where cultural remains and protected public land are closely connected within a rugged wilderness environment.
