Plikard Dederic Siler
History
2
Plikard Dederic Siler was the first Siler to settle in this area. He came from Germany to America in 1738 and moved here about 1760. He built a grist mill just east of the present bridge over Rocky River. He furnished supplies during the Revolutionary War and was declared a Patriot by the D.A.R. His descendants helped form the Town of Siler City. Presumed to be one of the early members of Rocky River Baptist Church, he and his wife are buried about 200 yards east in the old cemetery.
