Yuba State Park in central Utah occupies the Sevier Bridge Reservoir, also called Yuba Reservoir, across parts of Juab and Sanpete counties about 25 miles south of Nephi. The park centers on a reservoir landscape that serves as a major recreation area for camping, boating, swimming, fishing, and nearby off-highway vehicle riding. Its distinctive name preserves the history of the dam built by local farmers and ranchers to protect their water rights. Workers called the project the U.B. Dam, and a job song about being “damned if they worked and damned if they didn’t” helped turn the phonetic sound of U.B. into Yuba.
