Caddo National Grassland is a protected expanse in Fannin County in northeast Texas on the southern Great Plains. Covering 17,873 acres, it consists of two separate sections, the Bois d'Arc Creek and Ladonia units. The land was purchased in the 1930s to restore severely eroded soil, reflecting its original conservation purpose. Today it also serves recreation, with developed areas around 388-acre Lake Davy Crockett as a main destination for visitors. Caddo is administered together with the other national forests and grasslands in Texas from offices in Lufkin, with local ranger district offices in Decatur.
