Worship services were first held in 1845 in a brush arbor two miles northeast of this location. The first church building was erected near this site in 1868 and was used until 1905. In 1905, J. E. Watkins deeded an acre of land to the church and construction began on a new building. Completed in 1907, the existing edifice incorporated timber and foundation rocks moved from the old building to this site.
