In 1870, Marbury Lumber Company donated land for White Pond Methodist Church and Cemetery, and the first burial there is believed to have taken place that same year, marked only by a pile of bricks. The earliest marked grave is that of Thomas Marsh, who died in 1883. Additional land was donated by Lewis and Elizabeth Deramus in 1897, by Paul and Dovie Coker in 1927, and by Rev. Alex L. Joiner in about 1929. The Methodist Church owned and supervised the cemetery until August 2004, when ownership was transferred to White Pond Baptist Church.
