Poole's Mill Covered Bridge spans Settingdown Creek in Forsyth County, Georgia, and the 1901 wooden lattice-truss bridge is among the state's older surviving covered bridges. The crossing's history began around 1820, when Cherokee Chief George Welch established a gristmill, sawmill, and open bridge here before Cherokee removal in 1838. Ownership later passed to John Maynard, Jacob Scudder, and Dr. M.L. Pool, whose name became attached to the site. The present bridge replaced one lost in the 1899 flood, and its beams still show wrongly drilled holes from construction. After the mill complex declined, burned mill ruins left the bridge as the principal surviving historic structure, later restored as Poole's Mill Park developed nearby.
