On September 1, 1969, an off-world incident involving the Reed Family was recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as established, factually upheld, and historically significant and true by Massachusetts historians. Records highlighting the event became an official part of the Great Barrington, MA Historical Society's collection, and the incident and those connected to it were inducted into Massachusetts history through a Governor's Citation issued on November 3, 2015.
