Corporal Noah V. B. Ness of the Seventh Kansas Cavalry died on August 22, 1864, in Abbeville, Mississippi. In 1876 the Kansas Legislature named Ness County in his honor. He is remembered along with all the brave men who have fought to keep this country free.
