The Anderson Family Cemetery opened with the burials of William Anderson (1785?-1858) and Celia (Lair) Anderson (1791?-1859), Kentuckians who lived on the Missouri frontier before following their son, John Lair Anderson (1819-85), to Dallas County; he was a Peters Colony settler of 1846 and was also buried here. The William Anderson home stood about 90 yards southwest of the cemetery.
