At this point, the McClure Road or Wilderness Way crossed a permanent stream. An “S” bridge was placed here for utility, flood, and wash control. Originally, the bridge consisted of large granite boulders as buttress walls, with supporting timbers and a plank floor laid over them. The bridge was removed when the county tiled ditch was installed, drying up the stream in the early 1900s. Farm operators removed the boulders for passage of equipment around 1916. The erosion control bridge and plantings were begun in 1948-49.
