In Belmont, a ghost town in Nevada’s Toquima Range, the old courthouse survives as the chief reminder of the town’s brief importance. Built in 1876, it served while Belmont was the seat of Nye County government, a role the town held until 1905. The building’s survival and partial restoration, with much of the later work completed by Brett Perchetti, have kept it suitable for public visits. Set amid the remains of a former mining community, the courthouse reflects the boom-and-decline pattern common in Nevada mining country. It gained formal protection in 1974 when deeded to Nevada State Parks and was transferred to Nye County in 2012.
