In 2020, archaeologists from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee investigated and preserved discoveries along the entire length of Lakeshore Avenue, providing further evidence of past cultures that once called this area home. Items dating to several hundred years BC were unearthed, catalogued, and preserved. Archaeologists identified remnants of past houses along Lakeshore Avenue and catalogued over 80,000 artifacts found along this route. The material culture reflects a wide variety of household activities, including copper fish hooks and awls, decorative shell combs, clay cooking pots, and stone tools.
