Crayton Cove, a "Back Bay" area settled in 1915, became Naples' first sheltered mooring and the community center for the pioneers building the Tamiami Trail as well as for the fishing industry. The first pharmacy, the first newspaper, and important events including the Swamp Buggy Ball were based there.
