Harold "Pee Wee" Reese was born in Meade County, the son of Carl and Emma Allen Reese. He made his Major League debut in 1940 and spent 16 years with the Dodgers in Brooklyn and L. A. from 1940 to 1958, interrupted by World War II service in the U. S. Navy. He was credited with aiding Jackie Robinson's integration into Major League Baseball and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.
