Nature
Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge is a protected wildlife area in eastern Oklahoma near the upper Washita arm of Lake Texoma. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, it covers 16,464 acres and was established in 1946 to protect wildlife as well as the land and plant communities that sustain it. The refuge also allows hunting and fishing with proper licenses and charges no entrance fee. An on-site headquarters offers maps, brochures, and information about the refuge and its history.
