The Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum in McDade Park, Scranton, preserves the heritage of anthracite coal mining and interprets the industrial history of northeastern Pennsylvania. Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of the Anthracite Museum Complex, it is linked with sites including the Scranton Iron Furnaces, Eckley Miners' Village, the Museum of Anthracite Mining, and exhibits at the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour. Its scope reaches beyond mining machinery to show how anthracite shaped the region’s economy and communities, and it also entered popular culture through an appearance in The Office episode “The Merger.”
