Born in North Manchester on March 14, 1854, Thomas R. Marshall practiced law in Columbia City until his election as Governor of Indiana from 1909 to 1913. He then served two terms as Vice-President from 1913 to 1921. He died on June 1, 1925, and was buried in Indianapolis.
