On Memorial Day, May 25, 1998, Muscatine County dedicated a memorial honoring all veterans of all wars and conflicts and all branches of service who fought bravely and gave their lives to preserve freedom and liberty in the United States. It also honors those who fought for the country, survived, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The tribute reflects the belief that a nation honoring its veterans is dedicated to preserving a freedom won through sacrifice, and it is dedicated to the valiant members of the Armed Forces who ventured far, fought bravely, and died so that America might live.
