This large millwheel was part of cargo from Holland intended for Cleveland, Ohio. After its long trip across the Atlantic Ocean, the millstone was transferred at Hamilton, Ontario, to the schooner Gulnare, a Canadian registry vessel. The Gulnare sank in a storm off Ashtabula Harbor on July 15, 1892. The millstone was recovered on July 8, 1992, by Bruce Watson and his crew of divers.
