The Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, Ohio, is a railway museum built to preserve, maintain, and restore Jerry Joe Jacobson’s private collection of historic American and Canadian railroad equipment, including steam and diesel locomotives and passenger cars. After selling his interest in the Ohio Central Railroad System in 2008, Jacobson retained his preserved collection, bought 34 acres in Sugarcreek, and built a new roundhouse to protect it. Completed in 2011, the 48,000-square-foot structure includes 18 locomotive stalls and was notable as the first large roundhouse built in the United States since 1951. It remains significant both for the collection it houses and for reviving a classic steam-era railroad facility.
