During the Korean Conflict, men and women served gallantly for their country in a struggle for freedom, and some never came home. The conflict lasted from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. U.S. casualties totaled 140,546, and 8,100 U.S. servicemen were missing in action. Middletown men killed in action were Robert Tibbs, Robert Williams, David Warmouth, Charles Walker, Donald Hadley, Wilgus Pennington, Roosevelt Love, Martin Henderson, Charles Connaroe, Kermit Cook, Robert Minch, James Richardson, and Floyd Cooper Jr. Middletown men held as prisoners of war were Dewey Brewer, Roland Hamilton, William Helliegan, and Charles Riddell.
