Since 1890, the Friendsville community contributed its talents to the stone profession through the local marble industry, whose owners, operators, employees, and families worked in Friendsville. Tennessee pink marble remains a historic reminder of earlier days when the railroad ran through Friendsville, and a block of Tennessee cedar honors that industry.
