At 300 South Burhans Boulevard in Hagerstown, Maryland, this railroad museum centers on local railroad history and model railroads while preserving the legacy of the Hagerstown Roundhouse Complex. Built in 1939 as a 25-stall roundhouse with shops, the complex became the major western Maryland facility for maintaining and repairing locomotives and rail cars. It reflected an era when railroads were the largest employers in Washington County for more than 50 years and helped shape both the city and the surrounding region. After the original roundhouse was demolished on March 13, 1999, its history and significance continued to be preserved here.
