Blizzard Mountain
Nature
Blizzard Mountain is a prominent 9,313-foot summit in central Idaho on the border of Blaine and Butte counties, in the Pioneer Mountains of the Rocky Mountains. Just northwest of Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve and about 24 miles southwest of Arco, it stands out sharply in the surrounding landscape. Its summit rises about 3,300 feet above Cottonwood Creek and the Snake River Plain within only three miles, giving it notable topographic relief. The mountain is visible from Highway 20, and the Blizzard Mountain Ski Area lies about six miles east of the summit. Its name has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
