Lake Nocona, or Farmer's Creek Reservoir, is a man-made lake about nine miles northeast of Nocona, Texas, created by damming Farmer's Creek to meet municipal, industrial, and mining needs. Built from 1959 to October 1960 and operated by the North Montague County Water Supply District, it holds about 25,400 acre-feet of water and drains 94 square miles above the dam. Beyond its water-supply role, it is a popular recreation area known especially for fishing. Its standing timber, aquatic vegetation, and rip-rap habitat support bass and sunfish, while three public parks, a marina, camping areas, and RV spaces make it an important local leisure destination.
