Pioneer, soldier, and statesman John Logan established a land claim for 1400 acres in Lincoln County and built a stone house here. He served in the Lincoln County Militia, was a member of the first Kentucky Court in 1781, and represented Lincoln County in the Virginia Assembly and at the 1787 Danville Convention. Logan later became a state senator and was elected Kentucky's first state treasurer in 1792, serving until his death in 1807.
